Bio
Alec Gordon Davis is a 22-year-old jazz composer, arranger, lyricist, and multi-woodwind performer originally from Cleveland and now based in Cincinnati, Ohio. A recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), Alec has quickly established himself as a bold and versatile voice in the Midwest jazz scene.
He has studied with notable mentors including Craig Bailey, Dr. Sergio Pamies, Dr. Scott Belck, Aaron Jacobs, and Marc Fields. During his time at CCM, Alec wrote and arranged music for the CCM Jazz Orchestra, and has continued to contribute original work to the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra. He is also a founding member of Alex Merk’s Higher Heights, where his arrangements are a core part of the band’s sound and identity.
As a performer, Alec has appeared with respected ensembles including the Blue Wisp Big Band, The Original Farm League Big Band, the CCM Jazz Orchestra, and CCJO. Known for his technical fluency and stylistic range, he is a seasoned doubler, frequently performing on all saxophones, clarinet, bass clarinet, and flute—particularly in pit orchestras and theatrical settings across Cincinnati.

His artistic influences span a wide spectrum, drawing from the narrative orchestrations of Darcy James Argue, the playful inventiveness of Cosmo Sheldrake, and the sophisticated lyricism of Remy Le Boeuf. Always seeking to tell stories through sound, Alec brings a collaborative spirit and a deep commitment to craft to every musical setting he enters.
